Tyler History 1939

The following is an article that appeared in the local paper Friday, May 5, 1939.  The article was given by Pat Eller, daughter of Ed & Elise Ruff.

Tyler Groups to Observe Anniversary

Young People Sponsor Special Services

On Sunday

            The young people of Tyler Memorial United Brethren Church will observe the 49th anniversary of organized work in the United Brethren Church Sunday with special services.

             In the morning the young people will teach adult classes in the Sunday school and Mr. Carl Butterbaugh, a member of the Tyler young people’s group and a student at Otterbein College, will give a talk on the purpose of the day.

            Intermediate and Senior Christian Endeavor societies will have charge of the worship service at   At this time an historical pageant “Jesus Calls Us,” will be presented under the direction of Mrs. Edward Ruff.  Mr. Edward Ruff will be the reader and Miss Clara Schofield, will be the pianist.  Approximately 23 young people will be in the cast.

 

           Also included on the evening’s program will be accordion solos by Miss Betty Bethel; talk by Mr. Travis Rinehart on the objects of the offering; and the offertory music presented by a violin trio, Mrs. Forrest Drummond, Mrs. Travis Rinehart and Miss Schofield.

            The public is cordially invited
