Making disciples with love to God and others

   Update:

Recently in an article that was about cornerstones, there was an error about the architect. This is a correction with additional information.

John Schweitzer was the architect for the church built in 1915. He was Brad Purdum’s great-grandfather. John’s wife was Jennie Strawser Schweitzer. Jennie’s sister was Mary Strawser Barnhart. Mary’s husband was Rubel Barnhart. He was a trustee at the church – his name is on the stained glass window in the bell tower. They asked John to draw plans for the church, and he did not charge the church for his service. John Schweitzer was also the architect for the house on

Mill St.
where Frank and Jean Dittrich presently live. John died in 1948 and Rev. Lloyd Tuttle was the preacher for his funeral.

Now a little known information about Rev. Lloyd Tuttle:

Rev. H.B. Tuttle was ordained in the United Brethren Church by Bishop Milton Wright. Rev. Wright was the father of Orville and Wilbur Wright. Rev. Lloyd Tuttle was ordained by Rev. P.E. Wright of Lancaster Mills Memorial United Brethren about 1935. Rev. Tuttle was pastor for many years.

It’s back to school now – fall is coming soon. Let’s make an effort to bring up Sunday School attendance. Do you remember how crowded it was about 30 years ago?
