The Jr. Church children are learning about Jesus' twelve disciples. This series of messages will show them about how they are a lot like the disciples.... human, frail, immature. These lessons will be taking them right up to Easter when will be talking and learning about the last week of Jesus' life.

The children will also be working hard on a special skit for Palm Sunday! Jr. Church is for grades 1 through 5 and we meet during service after the children's message.

  • Women's circles

There are two United Methodist Women's circles here at Tyler that meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month. The Miriam-Ruth circle with Bev Sigler as group leader meet at 1:00 pm and the Mary-Martha circle with Jane Burkhardt as leader meet at 6:00 pm. The circles are a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ and to develop a creative, supportive fellowship. For more information on becoming involved in one of these circles, please call LaDonna Miner

This month, the Miriam-Ruth Circle would like to remind those in the congregation about the cookbooks that are for sale in the church office. This is a collection of Tyler church family favorites. Many of these recipes have been enjoyed at our church gatherings! Not only are there great recipes, but included are helpful cooking tips, measuring substitutions, calorie chart and much more. The price of the cookbooks is $5.00. The purchase of these cookbooks help to provide funds for the Men's Food Kitchen, bereavement dinners and the sock drive for the homeless. If you would like to purchase one of these cookbooks you can stop by the church office Mon – Wed – Fri 9:00 - noon.

  • Prayer Ministry

Once a week on Monday at 1:00 pm a group of prayer warriors meet to lift up in prayer those who have been mentioned in church service or through personal request.

The group is informal and small. No one is expected to pray out loud, but join their hearts with those who are praying for the needs of others. For more information, please contact Kay Creech.

  • Misfits Youth Group (6th through 12th grade)

The youth at Tyler were busy this past month. One of their outreach projects included organizing a toy drive for local families in need. While getting together for wrapping presents, they also made Christmas cards, enjoyed hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies all while watching Christmas movies! The youth are excited to get started in the new year with more outreach projects. Stay tuned!

We like to provide the youth with something inexpensive to snack on. If you would like to on occasion, donate to the youth something such as a casserole, chips/salsa, pizza, or some hotdogs, please call the church office or Pastor Sam.

  • The Goodwill Community Closet Program.

For several years the people of Tyler church have generously contributed to the “Community Closet” program by donating clean, wearable clothing. If you would like to donate, here is how it works:

    1) Call Tyler UMC to make sure you can get into the church, 740-773-1270.

    2) Bring clean, wearable clothes to Tyler UMC in a bag.

    3) Place the bag in front of the stage downstairs.

    4) The bags will be stored until we fill a large refrigerator box up and Goodwill picks it up.

    5) Goodwill will send one $25 voucher per large box

    6) Pastor Sam or Jane Burkhardt will determine how to best serve our community needs and send vouchers to families accordingly.

Thank you and your Godly heart!

  • Altar Flowers

It is an honor and a privilege to provide beauty on the altar as we worship God each week. For those who would like to make arrangements for special occasions to honor or remember loved ones, a sign-up sheet is available in the church office. Those who request flowers for specific Sundays, can make arrangements and payment through Charlies Flowers, who will then deliver them to the church on the Saturday before Sunday service. You can also provide flowers from a florist of your own choice. Just make sure that you call the church office with this information at least one week in advance so as to make sure the information is noted in the coming Sunday bulletin and someone is available at the church for delivery. For more information you can call Kathy Arbaugh at 740-773-1270.
